Paw was not willing to admit that he had called them just ten minutes prior.
Maw placed the cell phone down quickly and offered a clumsy excuse that she may have accidentally dialed their number.
"No, I did not call them again! In fact... if you remember, you asked me to call them!" Maw added smartly.
"I can say for sure, it was not me!" Paw remarked sternly.
"You know the kids have requested that we give them some alone time!" Maw explained.
"That is just pure silliness; they are too old to be acting like two young lovers!" Paw grumbled.
Paw began thinking of the many tasks he had planned for the male Boomer to do but now all his lists will go unattended.
"I wonder what they are doing in there? Did you look to see if their car was in the driveway?" Paw asked curiously.
"I really wasn't paying much attention. On our third drive by, I had to look away. I didn't want to appear like them there stalkers!"
The Boomers have found their days filled with well-meaning, loving folk, but who at times have been overly attentive and in their space.
Their elderly parents, Maw and Paw, have grown bored! They have no idea what the fuss is all about. Alone time to them sounds just outlandish. This type of thinking must be something new with this young generation.
The sons and daughters of these lovely Boomers just think them plain weird and the idea of their parents wanting ALONE TIME is just uncool!
The grandchildren have learned to use their parents cell phone and want to talk to Grammie and Papa on the hour. Even the dog has managed to squeeze its way in between them constantly, demanding their attention.
The Boomers have finally put their foot down! This weekend will be their retreat no matter what! While the Boomers love each and every one of their family members, they need some time to reconnect.
"So what do you want to do?" Ms. Boomer asked, sporting a big smile,
"I mean we are finally all alone if you know what I mean."
"I don't know, what do you want to do?" Mr. Boomer responded, sporting a cute, devilish grin.
"I hope Maw and Paw are okay!" Ms. Boomer remarked in a concerned tone.
"I am sure they are just fine!" Mr. Boomer replied.
"Wonder what our daughter and son are up too?"
"Her husband is perfectly capable of taking good care of her and our son is a grown man!" Mr. Boomer explained.
After going through the checklist of all family members and making an account of their stability in Ms. Boomer's mind, the Boomers manage to change the subject and focus on their "ALONE TIME."
Mr. Boomer gently took Ms. Boomers hand in his and leaned into Ms. Boomer. He began to whisper in her ear.
An actual giggle leaped from Ms. Boomers lips.
"My oh my…great minds do think alike," replied Ms. Boomer.
They looked deep into one another's eyes and felt quite pleased with themselves. They began to put their plan in action.
It has been years....thought Mr. Boomer.
I hope I still remember...thought Ms. Boomer.
"I'll be the banker!"
"I bet you will," Ms. Boomer replied laughing.
