I wrote this story close to two years ago. I never intended it to be published as a book. One day I took another look at it and thought... you know this may make a cute children's book.
An Angel and a Pair of Shoes is a delightful children's story which captures the hearts of two young girls who find friendship in a very unique way. The reader must decide whether their imaginations have taken flight or has an angel made an appearance before Petra's eyes.
I sat down and began to attempt some illustrations but I could not capture Tara and Petra. I emailed Sannel and asked her if she would be interested in illustrating them for me.
I also shared that I would like to donate some of the proceeds to a charity of our choice. Sannel, being such a giver, was more than willing to donate her time and talent to our new project. I was so thankful and was completely delighted with her illustrations. Sannel was able to illustrate the characters in such a way that the story came to life.
An Angel and a Pair of Shoes is about two little girls who find a special friendship in a unique way. Petra meets Tara, who possibly has a vivid imagination or is truly an angel. The reader is left wondering if an angel has truly graced the presence of Petra. The is a story of two little girls who have given in to that childlike faith.
50 percent of our profits will be donated to Be an Angel.
"Sannel Larson lives on the west coast of Sweden, near Gothenburg. Her fascination for books started very early, especially the illustrated ones, like the books of the Swedish children's authors, Astrid Lindgren and Elsa Beskow. She remembers escaping in between the covers of the book and become one of the figures in the illustrations. She let the imaginative world take over her mind until the last illustration was seen.
She was drawn to those books like bees to nectar, and still is. She has always been very artistic and creative in different fields, but it was not until later in life she had the opportunity to follow her lifelong dream to become a full-time writer, poet and illustrator of children's books. She loves the magical process of using her imagination by inventing characters and see them come alive on her drawing pad. It's always a very exciting path to see where these "new friends" of hers, will lead her.
Sannel want's her children's books to be fun to read out loud, with silly rhythm and rhyme, and lot's of whimsical drawings to look at. Her studio is a rugged, old cottage in the Swedish forest, with the sea, just a stone's throw away."
