Good morning and welcome to Life By Grand Design. If you are a first time reader, so glad you stopped by. If you are a returning reader, so happy you came back! Today is a beautiful day in South Texas. The sun is shining and the birds are chirping. It is a pleasant 72 degrees. Today we will be reviewing an excursion we took on a Catamaran at South Padre Island, Texas.

A Catamaran is a well constructed, stable watercraft. The word "Catamaran" means "Logs tied together". The Catamaran are wider in build and waves typically are not a problem compared to other sailing boats. We can attest to its smooth sailing. They do come in many sizes from a small sailing boat to a much larger ship. Our Catamaran was 27 ft. long and 25 ft. wide. Her name was called The Southern Wave.

Our Captain Tino welcomed us a board with smile and a nice handshake. I explained I was a writer and would like to write about our excursion. I asked if I could use the pictures and their first names. He smiled and said, "of course!" He also added..."just call me Jack Sparrow!" The first half of the trip I did refer to our Captain as Jack and he would just laugh. I finally did ask his real name. Thanks Tino for your gracious hospitality!

We opted to sit at the back of the Catamaran near the Chef. We were anticipating  a quick taste test if one was needed. We watched Diego prepare our meal ever so skillfully, never missing a beat. The meal was such a delight. We were first served grilled Shrimp. Our server was lovely young lady named Daniella. She worked the whole time to make sure we were feed generously. The second course was Chicken and Beef Fajitas with all the fixings. For dessert we were served fruit and chocolate candy. Everyone was filled and satisfied with food to spare. A nice shot of Amaretto was offered before dessert. It was smooth and quite tasty and the meal was delicious!

Once we were on the sailing vessel, we were pleasantly entertained by Taylor. She played the guitar so skillfully and sang to us for a full two hours. It amazed us how one could memorize so many song in one sitting without any sheet music or some kind of prompter.

The music was a mixture of oldies to the newer genre. Taylor was so talented and truly added to the ambiance of the gentle sailing vessel.

Thank you Taylor for entertaining us ever so sweetly.

As we sailed, we were pleasantly surprised by a school of dolphins that happen to follow us for a while. They seem to show off their skills for a time. They soon swam off  as quickly as they said hello. It was a little difficult to get a picture of them.

There is something magical about Dolphins. When I see them I feel as if I am five years old. My heart starts racing and the excitement of those beautiful creatures truly touch my heart. They are truly one of Gods most beautiful handiworks.

The tour was a grand total of two hours. With the meal, it seemed to go by so fast. It was nice to see people along the shore line fishing or reading a book. We noted several kayaks on the water. The water had a nice stillness that called many to enjoy the day.

One thing about Texas that Roy and I truly love is the friendliness of the people. We could not help but wave back to the many people who offered a quick hello as we passed by their homes. The array of houses along the shore went from just plain adorable to off the charts gorgeous! It was nice to look at them and pretend for a moment.

It was fun doing a little day dreaming....

Dear Kimmie and Roy,

I have a feeling I'm going to love traveling along side of you both in this beautiful website.

Your catamaran excursion sounds magical - especially when the dolphins accompanied you. The photographs are stunning - love the musical accompaniment by Christopher Cross as well.

I'll spread the word of your website on my next desk post. I know others who love you / will be excited to join your travels as well.

Love you and the inspiration you both give me, mar

Hello Kimmie and Roy, What an exciting time of life that you are enjoying. The day excursion sounds like a fun way to break up the routines we all fall into. Pleasure to find your writing Kimmie and Roy. Seventy-two degrees in March, that used to be California weather. What an adventure.
